The Institute of Biomedical Engineering (IBT) headed by Prof. Olaf Dössel has a good reputation in computer modeling of the human heart and processing of biomedical signals. Being part of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), our abilities include modeling of cardiac electrophysiology, namely of the excitation conduction in the human heart and its behavior in presence of medication, pathologies and genetic defects. Our portfolio of research includes in silico simulations of atrial fibrillation and related treatment strategies, mechanical models of the heart, ECG and atrial electrogram signal processing, numerical field calculation in the areas of MRI and MPI, as well as the reconstruction of cardiac sources from body surface potentials. 

Close collaboration with different research groups all over the world and local clinical partners enables us to address the most interesting topics of today's electrophysiology.
